Matthew Tarver

Matthew Tarver is the Founder and General Partner of Foundt Capital, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage investments in energy and deep tech. At Foundt, Matthew oversees fund operations, leads due diligence efforts, sits on the boards of FANCO and ANC, and actively manages the firm's growing portfolio of innovative companies.

Prior to founding Foundt Capital in 2022, Matthew served as Portfolio Manager for the venture arm of Sohan Capital, where he spent over five years structuring special purpose vehicles and backing high-growth startups. With a strong personal commitment to founder success, Matthew brings both capital and active support to Foundt's investments, rooted in the belief that early-stage outcomes are driven by the quality of the people involved.

Known for his thoughtful approach and curiosity about human nature, Matthew invests deeply in relationships, spending significant time with founders to understand their motivations and potential. His passion for discovering new perspectives also extends beyond venture, as he enjoys traveling and sharing life experiences with his family.

Miller Maestri

Miller is a General Partner at Foundt Capital, where he leads fundraising efforts and oversees the firm's portfolio of early-stage companies. With a sector focus on energy, Miller is passionate about backing transformative technologies and staying hands-on with the companies he backs.

Prior to launching his venture capital career, Miller worked for a real estate family office, where he played an active role in acquiring and managing investments, often co-investing alongside the principal with his own capital. That experience reinforced his belief that investing is holistic: understanding people matters as much as understanding assets, and hands-on engagement drives long-term value.

A former collegiate golfer at Southeastern Louisiana University, Miller has used golf as a powerful networking tool that connects him with people across industries and generations. Originally from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Miller now resides in Dallas, Texas where he remains an avid competitive golfer and enjoys returning to his South Louisiana roots to go saltwater fishing and cheer on the LSU Tigers.

Our Story

The Journey

The simple act of helping a family friend raise money for a start-up began Matthew's journey from engineer to venture capitalist. Inspired to help others realize success, Matthew relocated to San Francisco and spent half a decade organizing special purpose vehicles and serving as Portfolio Manager for Sohan Capital's venture arm. Taking his track record of success and bringing his own money to the table, he launched Foundt Capital in 2022.

Miller spent several years facilitating and investing personally into commercial real estate but always felt a calling to be part of building companies. After hearing Matthew's pitch for Foundt, he invited Matthew to breakfast the next day, where their partnership began.

Matthew and Miller are fueled by their "why" which dictates their approach to investing. Alignment of core values with the entrepreneurs and companies they invest in is paramount.
